I can't tell you why, but lately he's been prominent in my thoughts. The harder I try otherwise, the more vividly the memories rush at me.
Sometimes I want to run away. His ghost lingers in this town, haunting me at every corner, dashing between shadows. I can't walk a foot without his voice echoing in my ears. I try to stomp him silent, with my own feet, holding hands with someone else.
But in the end the ghosts mock my futility.
Today I rode and took the Metro to USC to attend a lecture by David Wilson of the Museum of Jurassic Technology. The ghosts whispered to me in a million frenzied voices, and the phantasmagoria of Fisher's current exhibit did not help. There has been a lot of curio in my life lately and I feel inspired to construct magnified dioramas of taxidermy wonders - real or imaginary. Thrift stores are treasure troves of trinkets and there's a place on Melrose where you can purchase the little bones of bats. I felt a sense of artistic renewal.
I visited with Renata afterward, and took advantage of the reception's free food.
But first the double exposure project must run its course. I can't overwhelm myself with projects, I am burdened as it is with promises I have yet to keep.

Double exposure project 2008
LA to Oakland
Work in progress
By next week I will have Europe to LA developed, and a new roll to send.
As you can see, some shots are highly successful and some shots are delightfully disorienting.
