Friday

For some reason I think that I should like dried fruit.

And for some reason, I don't.

And for some reason I keep buying it.

Even though I know I don't like it!

So I was at Trader Joe's looking for a snack. I guess I think that for some reason eating dried fruit will mean I am a health-conscious adult.

I saw a packet of dried dragonfruit and thought, "Oh how exotic!"

$2.29 if I recall correctly.

The stuff tastes dreadful, especially to one with a sweet tooth as fiendish as mine. I know Trader Joe's will gladly exchange store credit for any product you are dissatisfied with, accompanied with a receipt.

$2.29 seems petty.

Then again, that's like, a box of oatmeal.

And I know I like that.

My oh my this recession is brutal.

Besides that I missed my ex terribly today. The most I have in a while. Walking-down-Wilshire-and-sobbing to myself missed him. Etc - right?

This break up seems so stupid sometimes. When people ask me why it happened I can't seem to remember the reason. Was there even a reason? What the hell happened?

I have since recovered. I am okay, of course. It is Friday after all.

I've got a mind to get into some trouble.

If you're an artist and you're not particularly busy, I implore you to check out this Call For Work I received from a friend:

Hello,
This is a recruitment notice. Your name has found its way to one of us at Insemillation and we would like to offer you a chance to showcase your work or talents our next installation on Saturday, November 8th at the Unknown Theater.

Insemillation is an installation concept consisting of video, live performance, and interpretive art inspired by an original piece of media. This installation will feature The Hour of the Shipwreck and their recent album release, ‘The Hour is Upon Us.’ http://houroftheshipwreck.com, myspace.com/houroftheshipwreck

We are currently recruiting videographers, improvisational musicians, electronic artists, set-builders, sculptors, and production volunteers. Please take some time to review our descriptions of acceptable media/performance submissions, and reply to us as soon as possible if you would like to be involved:

Videographers: this installation will feature different music videos for each of the seven tracks on the album, ‘The Hour is Upon Us’. Interpretation and abstraction are welcome; however, synchronization and reference to the music’s changes and lyrics is strongly encouraged. Respond immediately to reserve a particular track. Videos must be submitted by November 2nd in MOV/Quicktime, on either a DVD or zip-disk.

Musicians: the installation will open with simultaneous, improvised musical performances. All musicians will be wearing headphones mixed from the same source, which shall be playing the ‘Hour’ album. Attendees will NOT be able to hear the album, and performers may NOT be able to hear each other. Musicians will be spaced throughout the room so their music will blend naturally, harmoniously, and dissonantly as they are inspired to play.

This is not for the faint of heart: there will be one sound-check and no rehearsals. Natural ability to improvise, recognize basic rhythm and tonality are required. Auditions will be held until Nov. 4th to fill a limited ensemble. Final selections will be made upon musician’s dynamic range, expressiveness and creativity.

Sculptors & Set-Builders: the installation will feature prominently placed sculptures and sets relating to the source media – ‘The Hour is Upon Us’. All levels of abstraction and interpretation are welcome. Contact for more details.

Production Volunteers: we take a degree of satisfaction in furthering the art of others. If you have a similar sentiment, some free time, and a healthy supply of elbow grease, then please get in touch; we’d love to have you on board.
