Yours Truly wrecked herself last night at a pre-Halloween party, resulting in the longest day of my life today.
That'll teach me.
Actually, no it won't.
I've started to read bike blogs, oh yes I have. And where I initially found the whole subculture intimidating, the internet makes it easy to become an expert. This weekend I am Metro-ing out to Orange County for Ride Against Hate: Vote No On Props 4, 6, and 8. The proposed route is about 19 miles out. I met the girl organizing it last night and we made a pact to ride back and Metro together. So for this hefty ride I am going to my parents' house on Saturday to get a few fast bike repair lessons from my dad and - hopefully - con him into a bike gear shopping spree. You know, father-daughter bonding time.
On a much more serious note, I just received my Vote-By-Mail ballot today. I was a little late to the mailbox on this one. Fearing a nigh deadline, I took the initiative and called my Registrar.
If you've just received your Vote-By-Mail (And if you're in California), and you're in the same predicament, never you fear. These are your options:
1) Prior to Election Day, you can turn your ballot in to your Country Registrar.
2) You can fax your ballot - but make sure to follow all the directions carefully! There is a separate form you need to print, sign, and fax with your ballot.
3) You can bring your ballot in to any polling place on Election Day.
If you need any more information and you're registered in Los Angeles county, you can go here.
I'm going to ride my ballot over to the nearest polling place on Tuesday.
I want one of those stickers!
I'm looking at my ballot right now and I have to admit it is thrilling to hold it. I never thought I could feel this way, but I am genuinely excited.
I feel empowered.
And it feels good.
