Sometimes when a dream comes true, it takes on an unexpected shape. After all, things always look different in the daytime. Our dreams are heightened shadows of our Personal Legend that upon waking, turn into a reality that is sometimes quite peculiar.
In other words, I think I've got a handle on the situation. I never doubted myself - but I was scared...as we all are when we descend into the cave. But just hold on. Just hold on.
I like this. I am happier with this.
Somehow life found me climbing two sizable hills on my commute to work three days a week with a bag loaded with a change of clothes, my lunch, and a u-lock.Writing September 10 2009
One morning my bag was particularly heavy and my legs were particularly slow to warm up, and I crawled up on my first hill, lazily over-spinning.
"It's okay," I told myself, "The bag is heavy. You have an excuse."
And then I realized:
"No, there is no excuse."
I threw myself into the hill. Not surprisingly, I jumped forward and the momentum propelled me onward, like a sail catching wind.
"There is never an excuse."

Climbing hills while riding a bike is a good metaphor for life itself. Next, try riding for 10 miles or more against a steady headwind. Keep riding!
