Monday: Photos: Partygirls, Inc.

So on Saturday I was invited to come shoot the Partygirls' fashion show and just so happened to find myself shooting my favorite sort of subject in my favorite sort of light against my favorite sort of backdrop. Backstage among models in anxious preparation, I was reminded of Degas' paintings of dancers, and worked from that point of inspiration. I think I got some really cool shots.

Ah! Self reflexivity!

This is what happens when I try to be sexy:

On Wednesday, 808 got off to a premature start...next month we're going to kick ass, so stay tuned. In the meantime, however, here are some rad DJ shots.

Today I washed my bike gloves for the first time in I-don't-know-how-long.

Yeah, the water is opaque.

Guh-rossss!

In less filthy news, I've been experimenting with flavor in terms of light cooking, tea, and cocktails. I want a warm winter drink to accompany this grey LA daze, and I almost picked out some whiskey (For my coffee), but at the last minute saw myself drinking lighter fare, so I grabbed up a bottle of gin. I know it already exists out there, but I made myself a cocktail of gin, lemon liqueur, water, ice, fresh mint leaves and fresh squeezed lemon, garnished with a slice of cucumber. I served it alongside toasted crackers topped with cucumber and drizzled with olive oil, vinegar, and salt and pepper. And for something sweet: sliced Pink Lady apples striped in honey and sprinkled with cinnamon. Perfect little evening snack session.

I'll probably end up getting some brandy to mix with warmer, creamier drinks (Read: egg nog!).

I'm probably going vegetarian.

for a really nice warm winter drink, try tea + whiskey/scotch. there's the traditional hot toddy, but you can get super creative. my fave tea blend lately has been ginger, chamomile, mint and sage. mm!

glad to see you embrace light cooking!!

Your photography continues to impress me. I like the way you "play" with light. Good eye for composition.

It's time for another HappyLand birthday party!
And you're invited! (Click on the flier for details!)

Go ask Alice...I think she'll know....
