Thursday: Bad intelligence

Today I went to the dental school at USC to finally get a check up on my teefs. I knew it would take a while to be seen, so I decided to have a bike adventure day since it had been much too long.

I decided I wanted to look cute on my bike - which is something I usually deny myself in the name of comfort - so I wore a skirt, tights, and a scarf that I rescued from my grandmother's closet (Today was the first day of its new life with me).

As you may recall, my grandmother passed away about two months ago. Though language and cultural barriers kept as worlds apart, ever since I was little I was told how much I am like her, so I now feel responsible for preserving her memory. Without divulging too much, I will say that it is widely believed that religion caged her spirit, so I feel I must wear the clothing I inherited from her in the ways she would have preferred but gave up out of fear or desperation or confusion or ignorance or...whatever strange reason people give their "saviors."

I, however, wear my bike helmet (almost) religiously - even when I am trying to look cute.

Also, as you may or may not know, I have the great shame of once attending the University of Southern California, an experience I mostly despise. If you can believe it, I was actually a film student there! The year I graduated, Uncle (George) Lucas bequeathed the film school new facilities. And just like his previous ventures into updated re-releases, this one has proved itself a Jar Jar Binks, although I am sure everyone is still making a ton of money.

And absolutely no fun!

While I was waiting, I dove into my brand new sketchbook, a hobby for which I feel a renewed enthusiasm. This was originally intended as a letter to Someone Special, but I liked it so much, that I am going to share it with you (He is busy studying for math and physics midterms at UCLA, so I don't really have time to give it to him anyway).

It's true I got some bad news today, which sort of sucks, but all I can do is take it one step at a time.

And then take it from there.

I'm sorry you got bad news :[

But I'm glad to hear you're taking care of your teefys, and keeping your head safe with a helmet.

:]

So you are ashamed to have gone to USC, yet you go and exploit their dental school? Also, if you hated it so much, why didn't you transfer or quit? Just curious. :)

Well, the dental school is the cheapest option.

And I didn't transfer or drop because I wanted to finish what I began...and because I needed to experience what I don't like to figure out what I do like.

The GTITS (Great Trojan In The Sky) will forgive your trangresses. Some day you will appreciate what you learned at the Great Lucas Temple. All Hail Lucas.

It's time for another HappyLand birthday party!
And you're invited! (Click on the flier for details!)

Go ask Alice...I think she'll know....
