Friday: Photos: The Trevor Project Counselor Social

In case you didn't know, HappyLand has officially gone into business. HappyLand's primary service is event and party photography, with a photobooth coming very very soon (In fact, if you're curious, my first photobooth gig is December 6th, stay tuned for further details!). HappyLand provides additional creative services such as writing, artwork, and event planning. Besides creating a superb product, HappyLand strives to operate with a unique vision of beauty, love, and positivity, with a specific fondness for the underground scene here in Los Angeles. So if you are in need of a photographer, have a look at my work and get in touch with me. Rates start at $50 for a four hour event.

The omens all seemed to be pointing in this direction, and I'd be a fool to ignore them. I seem to be correct, because the very moment I decided to go into business for myself, I received two phone calls from friends for photo gigs!

Last weekend I was asked to come photograph The Trevor Project's Counselor Social. The Trevor Project is a truly wonderful organization that provides "crisis and suicide prevention efforts for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) youth" and "operates the only accredited, nationwide, around-the-clock crisis and suicide prevention helpline for LGBTQ youth." So if you ever need someone to talk to, please don't hesitate to call.

It was a very lovely evening, and it's touching to know that there are so many selfless, generous, kind, and giving people in a world that is often cruel to those who are "different." The night was filled with warm greetings, laughter, fun, stories of tragedy and stories of triumph. I'm honored to have been in the presence of these people and to be allowed to contribute in my small way. I tried to capture that in my photographs, though the setting posed some challenges. I think I succeeded.

In this season of giving, please consider The Trevor Project, and give to someone's future.

And while you're in the giving spirit, come out to the Food Not Bombs benefit show this Sunday at The Smell!

Thank you for reading and I hope you all have restful, fun, safe weekends!

I need a beach cruiser like I need a hole in my head............

It's not a beach cruiser. It is a British-made "Dutch" (commuter) bike.

"Dutch commuter bike" = beach cruiser, as in they are both heavy, difficult to steer, and totally impractical in the city.

It's time for another HappyLand birthday party!
And you're invited! (Click on the flier for details!)

Go ask Alice...I think she'll know....
