Monday: New Year's Roundup

2010 is here & how lovely it has been so far.

Any year that begins with lit punch fountains (Alcoholic & Non-Alcoholic), fire dancers, and friends with sunshine in their eyes is going to be a good year - no question about it. I am a firm believer in the power of believing...and so, I shall make 2010 good by virtue of my faith in it to be good.

Despite all its bright goings-ons, 2010 is taking its time, waking like a cat in the late morning light, stretching & yawning & generally indulging itself.

Somewhere between Thursday & today, I myself made a rare trip of indulgence when I took the bus to the Aveda store at the Hollywood & Highland center to part with some of my Christmas cash. Even a non-conformist needs good hair.

From the fare-less bus ride to the bustling first tourist crowd of 2010, my path was littered with omens which sparkled like jewels in the unexpected winter warmth (But I guess that's LA for you). My eyes beheld them & I followed. Some of the omens were like shadows & some of the omens were as obvious as Chakra cards (Of which I selected the blue "Expressive" one). On the bus home I spoke with a man visiting Los Angeles for the first time from Ohio who came to the city to watch the Rose Bowl. "I'm sorry, I don't follow football, but I do hope your team won," I said, and he was only too happy to claim victory. I might have started the day on the wrong side of the bed, but by the end of it, I'd been righted.

New Year's party favor, I see.

It's okay, animals are good luck.

And because we must remember to never take ourselves too seriously.

I may be sick with a cold right now, but it's a minor price for the sensory feast that was New Year's weekend. Even in my ailment, good fortune has come upon me. Perhaps we feasted for future starving times, or perhaps we feasted to celebrate the plentifulness which seems to lie ahead, however it ends up happening, things are going to be good...even when they are bad.

Happy New Year, my beautiful ones.
