Friday/Saturday

Unemployment is a little tedious.

I woke up around nine this morning and laid in bed for two hours without a damn thing in my head. I have no internet, no money, and no lovely. Breaking up is hard to do - even harder when you have nothing else to do but think about it.

So finally I got myself up and together to hand in a resume at a leather and fetish shop I noticed on one of my walks. Have to admit I was a little intimidated - though greatly intrigued - since it seems to be male oriented, so I had to talk myself up for an hour on the phone with Sam. When I finally got down there I noticed that the Help Wanted sign offered an email submission. So I turned back around, hit up JP's, and emailed that sucker.

Also applied for:
A gallery assistant
A data entry-er(?) at a doctor's office
A temp agency in Beverly Hills

Spent the rest of my time at the coffee shop obsessively hitting refresh on my email.

Because I know I'll probably be earning little more than minimum wage, I'm aiming for jobs strictly within bike-riding distance. Oh yeah, I'm driving to my parents' house tonight to pick up my childhood bike. Not quite a fixie, but my friend and I are going to start an un-cool bike gang and ride around Hollywood terrorizing bars and clubs.

Shot a roll of film to send to Sam for our joint photo project. Expanding on an idea inspired by the Joint Custody Project, I'm sending him a roll of shot film to shoot on top of, double exposures of two people in two places...who were once one in one place.

Saw one of the most satisfying images ever today...when I didn't have my camera. Two skinny Beverly Hills teenage girls in fluorescent orange vests picking up garbage by the side of the road. They were probably caught smoking pot on campus. One had orange sunglasses to match. When I was a teenager I never understood why horror movies always killed us off with such gleeful vehemence. Now that I'm older I understand.

Special Disco Version tomorrow night. At a yet-to-be-announced secret location. A friend and I are hitting up Saint Vincent's for some rad outfits, executing a photo shoot in West Hollywood, and then cabbing it in.

I discovered a factory defect American Apparel store in the same shopping center as the Trader Joe's on Santa Monica. If you don't mind your cardigans extra baggy, the place is a goldmine. Backup for tomorrow if Saint Vincent's yields nothing.
