Thursday (Fliers)

I can't remember what I am supposed to be doing here.

Oh wait, okay, I know.

I'm sitting here, enjoying a banana bread beer, in my retro-fitted kitchen, which is slowly coalescing into the site of my "living room" (Because I have a studio and the kitchen is huge!). My mother reupholstered these chairs with the perfect fabric - she just picked it out for me, I never even saw it, somehow she could read my secret dreams and desires! Even from far away!

The same day she delivered the chairs, we went thrift store shopping and found this beautiful bar. We had been talking about some way to expand my limited counter space and I had suggested a bar. We walked into this one store on Fairfax and from the moment we saw it, we knew it was the one. Only a hundred dollars!

My mother then dove into the clothing racks, previously unaware that thrift stores could offer such remarkable finds. She was so turned on that she returned with my father the next day to purchase a brand new Ethan Allen chair for only one hundred and fifty dollars!

Yesterday on my day off I really wanted to come home to a beer, but since I was boycotting and I was out of stock, I was forced to find an alternative. So I lounged in my kitchen, smoked a cigar, and listen to the Moody Blues' Days of Future Passed (I received the record as a gift from my father, and it was his when he was a teenager!). I mean, a beer would have made it perfect, I was craving a Fat Tire specifically - but, whatchya gonna do.

But that's why I treated myself to this banana bread beer from Whole Foods after running a couple errands on my bike today.

Speaking of my beloved bicycle! On Sunday both my parents came into town, so I took them out for food at Swingers, and at the mention of hybrid tires for my bike, my dad (The man from whom I inherited my bike fanaticism) asked me where the nearest bike shop is.

We hit up this place on Melrose and bought a pair of Kenda Kross Plus Front/Rear Slick XC Tires - road bike in the middle, but all mountain on the outside. The 'Hog is remarkably lighter and I am remarkably faster, though, unprepared for the new speed, I had a little collision which led to a flat...which I believe was caused by a pinch in the inner tube from the tire installation.

The flat was disappointing, as I discovered it Monday morning on my way out the door to work, eager to peel down the street. But Monday night's little bike repair session was rewarding - it was the first flat I've changed entirely on my own.

The tires are really great - I fucking love them.

I am looking forward to longer faster rides on them.

It's been a busy week. I finally slept more than two hours last night, but my accumulated sleep debt had me nodding off the final hour of work. The oprstu photo shoot on Tuesday night went beautifully -
I was charged with documenting the shoot, not the shoot itself. Richmond over at Photos Operandi was the photog of the evening - the guy knows his stuff and even treated me to a brief Photoshop session.

The flow and the vibe of the shoot was good - the evening culminated in a group hug.

Ben is such a doll!

I have to edit the rest of the photos this weekend, but here is one.

This photo is deceiving because Renata, on her knees beside me, appears to be my height. And I am...standing.

Whatchya gonna do!

P.S. I hate Time Warner Cable with the fiery passion of one thousand suns.

But crappy expensive internet service aside....

So what's that I hear? You need weekend plans? Let's see what I got....

Planning on photographing here, want to keep on toying with the black and white.

And then....

And hopefully they'll let me come shoot here. I asked nicely!

You better smile when I point my camera at you!

See ya around, lovers.
