HappyLand: Friday music weekend (But it's actually Sunday!)

I know I know. A Friday music post on a SUNDAY? Normally I don't write here during the weekends, but today is my birthday! And anything can happen!

Today I turn twenty-four - yikes! It amuses me to think that when I was a kid I thought I'd be sooo grown up by the time I was even twenty-one. Now that I'm here, I feel like I'll never grow up!

So this is one of the best birthday presents I've received today!

And to introduce our lineup I have a music post with one of our DJs - the adorable Miss Rawky Zano!

I met Rawky when I took her picture at a Not The Government show. She asked for my card and then got in touch with me later. She's asked me to come photograph at a couple of events and is one of the most generous, kind, fun, and talented people I know!

Her remixes are likewise fun, often pulling from the long forgotten recesses of your eighth grade dance memories to make you go, "Omigod! I haven't heard this in forever!" and drop it in a way the chaperons would have reprimanded you for. And yes, Scott McKenzie's San Francisco really does make an appearance! Rawky is dedicated to her craft and the result is a solid good time. I'm tremendously excited and honored to have her spin for my party. It's going to be a wicked good time!

Favorite Daft Punk song?
Fav Daft Punk would definitely have to be a tie between One More Time & Music Sounds Better With You! OMT because every time I play that track whether it be at a club or a 40th bday people can't help but dance their pain away! Its such an anthem. MSBWT has always been a favorite of mine because of the disco feel. It reminds me so much of one of my favorite bands, KC & The Sunshine band, just with a more modern day touch to it.

What's your gear? Or you can plead the "tricks of the trade."
Haha gear? Pro Tools M-Powered 8, Torq Conectiv, Trigger Finger, and my widddddle casio that has made playing piano ayyymayzingly fun! That's all I have to say about that. lol

Where can people find you?
Probably mixing and making music at my bgf (best guy friend) Anthony's where I'm usually most inspired. Oh you meant where do I play? lol check me out wednesdays at 7 in downtown LA and plenty of private parties that I can usually sneak at least one or two "assistants" into lol.

What's your going out ritual? Picture John Travolta a la Saturday Night Fever!
The one song that gets me in my going out mood, is none other that Marvin Gaye's "Got To Give It Up." I usually blast the hell out of that, dance around in my room with my 1 1/2 year old niece for a bit while she helps me choose my outfit with yes or no head shakes.

Something about you that most people don't know.
Something about me that most people don't know?? Hmm, I'd have to say...I went to private school for nine years! Probably explains my rebellion and move to LA LA Land. Oh and that I don't drink :)
