Kicked off the birthday month to a phenomenal start!
Friday night I grabbed a delicious bite to eat at Tribal Cafe, where you can find a delectable variety of "green" dishes, desserts, and beverages. The works of local artists adorn the walls, there is a community bookshelf, and there's plenty of seating. It was the perfect environment to catch the Amar Collective at work. I was most excited to see Naima Earth, who impressed me once again. How lucky I am to have them playing my show! I'll never be able to express my gratitude properly!
I dashed home, catching a glimpse of a mass night bike ride as they cruised downtown, maybe seventy or so bicycles. It looked like fun. I almost abandoned my car.
I had friends waiting for me at my apartment to roll on down to a midnight screening of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas - one of my favorite films ever. I chugged a Sparks and we treated ourselves to homemade baked goods as we walked to the theater.
Rest in peace my lovely Sparks!
It was fantastic seeing the film on the big screen with an audience, though I wish the sound could have been presented in more than just stereo!
On Saturday it was the Blue Jungle record release show, featuring a bunch of high-energy punk rock bands. It was great - I need to go and add all those bands on my MySpace like, now! As the clock struck midnight and it became my birthday, I met up with friends at L'KEG and danced.
I didn't get home until 5:00am.
Sunday was lunch with the family, which...went as familial things go!
Sunday night I had a small get together at the apartment with some pink cupcakes and some pink champagne. And look what my friends got for me!
How am I so lucky!
This coming weekend promises to be no less exciting, so stay tuned for the Wednesday fliers this week!
