Oh, so can I tell you about the massive hangover I had today? I thought the day would never end. It was torture. When I finally got home, I had one with a pal, and then we walked to 7-11, where I purchased a much needed Gatorade. The kids were pouring in after school and grabbing up every colorful snack in sight. I'm going to go back for a Slurpee this weekend I think. I wasted no time sucking down my Gatorade, perked me right up.
May call it an early night and just turn in. Everyone is staying in or sick right now, so my chances of going out look slim. Plus I still can't stomach solid food, much less the sight of booze (Much much less the smell of it!).
The Juan MacLean was very good last night! But more fun was pre-partying at my apartment and then catching up with SayCheeseAndDie in line at the Roxy. He's so sweet and he's going to take fabulous photos at my party! We ended the night at AstroBurger, where a scene of squawking drunk girls was a less-than-hot mess. Fortunately the cook recognized our courtesy, so he served up our orders before even acknowledging the young women.
Yours Truly has had a couple of good nights out on the town, but come on! A little dignity ladies!
Straddled by two burger joints, I'm in trouble in this part of town!
Miss Taffy Davenport was part of Thursday night's Sparks adventures, and it's always a pleasure going out with her! She's the person who makes me look and sound cool! I have to admit she's always been a fashion icon for me, inspiring me to take chances and have fun, and her mixed CDs always impress not only me, but everyone I share them with. She introduced me to the dance scene in Los Angeles, fulfilling a desire I had long possessed but did not know the shape of. She showed me the way to unlock this city, and it's been a love affair ever since.
I don't know what I did to deserve such a rad friend, but I'm going to count myself tremendously lucky!
I knew she was a bit of a "bedroom DJ," but when I heard that she had started to take on gigs, I was thrilled! She's spun for me before, always eliciting the "Who is this?" from strangers. Then I heard she was working on her first little mix and I absolutely could not wait to get my hands on it!
It's like Taffy has this exclusive window into an outer space disco hall in the future, and her mixes have a beat to them like the roar of a rocket engine. I'm serious! Listen for the space shuttle launch! It's in there! Five, four, three, two, one!...and that Sparks in your stomach reacts to the sound waves in your brain, setting off an explosion of dance in your legs. So when you come to the party Saturday January 31st, you better bring your dancing shoes!
Favorite Daft Punk song?
Alive, no question. That tune only gets better with age! I'm embarrassed to admit I got a little teary when I heard them play it in Vegas on their last tour. Shhhh
What's your gear? Or you can plead the "tricks of the trade."
Ableton Live 6.0 paired with the M-Audio X-Session Pro and Numark DJ/iO
Where can people find you?
In my living room every day at 4pm to watch Tyra. Ms. Banks has a death grip on my afternoons.
What's your going out ritual? Picture John Travolta a la Saturday Night Fever!
Hm, usually with the music up and the television on mute, doing my makeup with a drink at my side. Lately I've been super digging Kevin Saunderson's Live at Sunday Best! mix while getting ready- such vocal bubblegum house goodness. Find it!
Something about you that most people don't know.
Oh jeez, maybe that i can't wink? That's not even that interesting, apologies!

TL;DR - Taffy Davenport
