My favorite pair of riding pants finally acquired a hole in the right inner thigh. But I like these pants so much that I am going to see if I can repair them.
The Inauguration happened today, but I actively ignored it. It is a difficult thing to enjoy with Proposition 8 in place here in California and Obama's selection of Rick Warren to deliver the invocation. As the ceremony slowly heaved itself into action, I couldn't tolerate the televised heads lauding the election of a black man President while still others have had their rights revoked. This is not to undermine a truly historic event, however, the lack of even an acknowledgment demonstrates an alarming lack of consideration. It makes me sick to my stomach and it makes my heart a little dark. While I never considered Obama a "savior," I assumed that his particular circumstances would make him sensitive to the civil rights plight of others.
I have been made an ass of.
It's Tuesday and isn't that marvelous? No really, it is. Because tomorrow is Wednesday and from Wednesday it's all downhill.
Yesterday I allowed myself to indulge in the pleasure of consumption. I bought a pair of boots I will probably only ever occasionally wear, but had been lusting after online for a while. They were on sale, and it was now or never.
My sense of timing is terrible.
But boy, do I love my bicycle.

Liz, give Barack some time. Getting elected as the first black President could not have been easy. Sometimes politicians have to say or do one thing in public in order to keep their critics at bay. At the same time they may work behind the scenes to achieve their "real" agenda.
If two or three years down the line he has done nothing to advance the cause of gay rights, then your disappointment may be justified. In the meantime, give him a chance to do the right thing. :-)
I would be more hopeful that Obama is doing the "right thing" behind the scenes, if not for his pick of Rick Warren for the invocation. Also just because he is a Democrat does not mean he will be a champion of gay rights. Lest we forget that that he is also from a conservative Christian church. And he is also African American, and as we saw with the voting data on Prop. 8, African Americans are not particularly receptive of gay rights. Now that is not to stereotype Obama, they are just some observations.
Its true that we must give him time to see what he does, I'm just not holding my breath.
For what its worth here is a link to the White House website with his agenda for LBGT rights: http://www.whitehouse.gov/agenda/civil_rights/
